Ten members of the Big Cedar Homemakers met at the Big Cedar Schoolhouse for their Nov. 13 meeting and annual Christmas Swag making project. There were three guests, Cherylee Gianopolus from our area and Lorna Inglet and LeeAnn McMaster from the Nezperce Garden Club who came to help with the wiring of evergreen boughs and to share in the leftover greens which they will use for their club’s wreaths. We were also thrilled to welcome new member, Irene Finehout.
November birthdays to be celebrated are Kris Perry, Judy Daugherty, Jean Ulmer and Sara Schroeder. There was one anniversary to acknowledge for Pat and Dana Anderberg on Nov. 24.
We discussed briefly what type of Christmas party we wish to have at Lorna’s house on Dec. 11. There will be our annual Christmas ornament exchange, election of officers, Christmas potluck, and we will all bring extra goods for the Kooskia Food Bank (and the Food Bank does take coats).
Susan announced that Meryl Flocchini will be teaching a yoga class at the Big Cedar Schoolhouse starting in December. Call Meryl at 926-7833 for details.
There will be a Craft Fair on Saturday, Dec. 7, in Stites at the Country Center. This is sponsored by the senior class to raise money for their prom.
The Nezperce Garden Club then handed out their holiday decorated 2014 calendar to the officers of the Homemakers.
The next day, Thursday, Nov. 14, seven members gathered at the old schoolhouse to wire pine cones to the swags. It took seven members two-and-one-half hours to wire three cones to each of approximately 150 swags.
The next gathering of all members of the Club was on Friday, Nov. 22, at 8 a.m. at the old schoolhouse to put bows on the swags and deliver them.
The December meeting and Christmas party will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the home of Lorna Olsen.
