Kids can talk to Santa Saturday

Kids of all ages will be able to talk to Santa this weekend via Ham Radio. The 3 Rivers Amateur Radio Club will have radios set up at Cloninger’s in Kamiah and Clearwater Valley Marketplace in Kooskia.

Eagles Bingo to be played Dec. 14

The Eagles Lodge on C Street is the place to be this Sunday, Dec. 14, 2 p.m., for Turkey Bingo. Everyone 18 and older is invited to come and bring a friend.

An Hour of Code is coming to GEMS Friday, Dec. 12

December 8-14 is Computer Science Education Week. To celebrate, Grangeville Elementary Middle School is joining with students from across the globe for an “Hour of Code” Friday, Dec. 12, 2:15-3:15 p.m.

Earthquake goes unnoticed south of Grangeville

Did you feel it? Apparently last Thursday’s Dec. 5 earthquake 19 miles south of Grangeville went largely unnoticed and without incident. The U.S. Geological Survey reported the quake at a 2.7 magnitude at 9:11 a.m. at a depth of 1.2 miles, roughly five air miles east of Slate Creek.

State road closures announced

The Maggie Creek Supervisory Area of the Idaho Department of Lands in Kamiah will be closing roads accessing the Woodrat Mountain block of state land this Friday, Nov. 7. Entrance roads will be closed at Suttler Creek, Wilson Creek, Harris Ridge, Kidder Ridge, Glenwood Meadows and Woodrat Mountain. Closures will remain in effect through May 2015.

College Application Week to be held Nov. 12 at GHS

Grangeville High School will participate in College Application Week during the week of Nov. 10-14.

Missing teen, Shippey found in Kamiah

Katie L. Shippey, 17, of Clearwater, reported missing Oct. 25 showed up at a friend’s house in Kamiah last week in good condition, according to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office. No further law enforcement involvement is warranted.

Educator award created at LCSC

The Lewis-Clark State College Teacher Education Program is starting a new program this fall called the Outstanding Educator Award Program.
