Football officials sought

Recruitment is under way for new football officials for high school and junior high school football in Idaho’s District II.

Free sports physicals offered in Grangeville, Kooskia

Syringa Hospital & Clinics once again offer free sports physicals, 4-6 p.m. Aug. 1 in Grangeville or 1-5 p.m. Aug. 2 in Kooskia.

Football schedules penciled

Football schedules for the coming fall are penciled in and of area teams, only Grangeville has scheduled a Zero Week opponent so far.

Having run distance for the 2017 state champion Prairie Pirates Chaye Uptmor is headed to Caldwell on scholarship this fall, where she plans to study health and human sciences and psychology and, eventually, to pursue a degree in occupational therapy.

Locals mostly two-and-out vs. 3A competition


Clearwater Valley’s Kamm and Trayse Mangun played exceptionally, and came closer to a state medal than any other local individual or doubles team at the 3A state tennis meet held May 19-20 at Vallivue and Caldwell high schools.

Prairie takes girls team title

Prairie’s last race of the day once again proved decisive, with the 4x400 girls outpacing Oakley by more than four seconds to move the team total two points ahead of Valley, into clear first.

Salmon River’s Chevelle Shepherd cleared 10-3½ in the 1A girls pole vault — and topped the state record 10-3 set in 2015 by Kaylee Olsen of Challis.
