Donna passed away quietly on Feb. 10, 2014, at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Wash., with her children by her side.
Donna was born in Grangeville, Idaho, on Dec. 6, 1937. She was the only child born to Earl and Neoma Austin. She grew up on the family homestead on Mt. Idaho Grade. She attended Mt. Idaho grade school then graduated from Grangeville High School where she met the love of her life, Donald “Gabby” Ruzicka. They started their lives together on June 4, 1955. They were blessed with three children.
Donna and her family moved around a lot enjoying life and just being a family. She had many jobs in her life but the most important to her was raising her children and their friends. Donna finally retired from the Idaho County Nursing Home in 1999 where she had worked for 15 years.
After retiring Donna enjoyed traveling especially going to see her grandkids and the PBR with Don until his death in 2008. Donna moved to town where she liked to read, do crossword puzzles and visit with her neighbors at Pleasant Valley Apartments.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Donna is survived by her children, Albert (Cindy) Ruzicka, Tonda (Jeff) VonBargen and Lois (Darrel) Gehring; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren with one on the way and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 15, at 10 a.m. at Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville with burial to follow at Prairie View Cemetery. A potluck meal will follow at the Eagles Hall in Grangeville. Viewing will be held Friday, Feb. 14, from 4-8 p.m. at Blackmer Funeral Home. Send condolences to the family to Blackmerfuneralhome.com.
